Health Tip: Veggie Resolutions

When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, put eating more vegetables at the top of your list!

Why? Beyond the great taste, a veggie rich diet is linked with a healthy heart – especially for women. Vegetables tend to be high in fibre and water, so they can fill you up for fewer calories – and that can help with a healthy weight. Plus, when you’re eating lots of veggies, you don’t have room for some not-so-healthy choices.

Aim to fill at least half your plate with vegetables. Add a little zing to your veggies with these 3 tasty ideas:

  • Go green. Sauté kale with a little butter and fresh garlic. Add a big squeeze of lemon juice, fresh ground pepper and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Scrumptious!
  • Opt for orange. Roast a sweet potato, add a bit of Spreadables Cinnamon and Brown Sugar butter and a few shakes of hot sauce. Sweet and spicy!
  • Punch up your plate with purple. Roast beets and drizzle with balsamic vinegar. Serve on a bed of leafy greens topped with a handful of dried cherries and crumbled feta cheese. Fantastically flavourful!
