December 21, 2017 – Gay Lea Foods is pleased to officially announce that our co-operative once again endorsed the work undertaken by the Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF Canada) in 2017 through a $115,000 donation from the Gay Lea Foundation to CDF’s new Breaking New Ground campaign.
“Our members and employees recognize CDF Canada’s unique approach to building prosperity and are proud to be able to continue to support the work they do through the Gay Lea Foundation,” says Gay Lea Foods President & CEO Michael Barrett. “Through years of charitable giving – including $400,000 in support of CDF Canada’s Building a Better World campaign – and now, through the Gay Lea Foundation, our co-operative continues to foster growth, cultivate opportunity and aid global co-operative development.”
“Gay Lea Foods and its employees continue to demonstrate their community leadership and re-affirm their confidence in our unique development approach,” says Michele Aasgard, CDF Canada Board Chair. “Through this very generous donation from the Gay Lea Foundation, Gay Lea Foods, its employees and its members live out their co-operative principles while impacting the lives of millions of co-operators around the world.”
Breaking New Ground is a three-year campaign to improve the social and economic well-being of 500,000 women, men, children and their communities through co-operative development. The success of this innovative approach has earned the confidence of CDF Canada‘s funders such that every dollar donated is leveraged up to 10 times by them.
